Giveaway: Faber-Castell Grip Fountain Pens (Pearl Mint Green, Turquoise and Rose)

I really need to put together a revised Top 5 Fountain Pens Under $25. I would definitely include the Faber-Castell Grip in that list. I reviewed it last year. This year, Faber-Castell released three new colors for this pen: Pearl Mint Green, Pearl Turquoise and Pearl Rose. All three models are available in EF, F and M. The pen is a snap-cap, European cartridge converter and slides just under the $25 mark.

Faber-Castell Grip Pearl Fountain Pens

The new colors are spring-tastic! The rubberized, rounded grip is confortable to hold, the slightly triangular shape and rubberized dots keep the pen from rolling, with or without it’s cap.

The new colors are a nice addition to the dark colors they already have in the line.

For our giveaway, sponsored by our good friends at Goldspot Pens, we have three pens to giveaway. They are available in these configurations:

  • Faber-Castell Grip Pearl Fountain Pens

TO ENTER: Leave a comment below and tell me what other color you think Faber-Castell should make the Grip Fountain Pen (and which one you’d like to win). Play along and type in something. It makes reading through entries more interesting for me, okay? One entry per person. We will select three winners, each winner will get one pen. If all the winners select the same pen, they have to play Rock, Paper, Scissors for who gets which one.

If you have never entered a giveaway or commented on the site before, your comment must be manually approved by our highly-trained staff of monkeys before it will appear on the site. Our monkeys are underpaid and under-caffeinated so don’t stress if your comment does not appear right away. Give the monkeys some time.

FINE PRINT: All entries must be submitted by 10pm CST on Sunday, May 24, 2020. All entries must be submitted at wellappointeddesk.com, not Twitter, Tumblr or Facebook, okay? Winners will be announced on Tuesday (Monday is Memorial Day and even in this time of COVID-19, we still want to sit in lawn chairs in our backyard and drink beer, okay?). Winner will be selected by random number generator from entries that played by the rules (see above). Please include your actual email address in the comment form so that I can contact you if you win. I will not save email addresses or sell them to anyone — pinky swear. If winner(s) do(es) not respond within 5 days, I will draw a new giveaway winner. Shipping via USPS first class is covered. Additional shipping options or insurance will have to be paid by the winner. We are generous but we’re not made of money. US and APO/AFO only, sorry.

    1. Well I would definitely love the mint green, as that’s like my favorite color, but another awesome color they could do would be lavender!

  1. I really like the Pearl Turquoise. But I wonder how this pen compares with the Faber-Castell School Pen?

    1. The Pearl Rose is absolutely gorg. It would match other things I have going on with my desk. But a pretty purple would be perfect to compliment the lilacs starting to bloom in my yard, the yard where I will be enjoying a cold beer (or two or three) this weekend

  2. I’d like to see a rose gold to compliment the gold and silver they already have. The other color wishes are pearl white and holographic, similar to my tea holder. 🙂

    1. Oh, imagine writing with a DEEP fuchsia pen with a fine tip. Mmmmmmm. ::shivers in delight::

  3. I would like to see a medium gray tone in the future. If selected may I ask please for the turquoise EF. Thank you for being generous in a giveaway. Please stay well and healthy during these troubling times. With gratitude.

  4. I love blue so I would definitely chose the Pearl Turquoise.

As for what other color Faber Castel could add to the Grip line, I am surprised they haven’t yet added their iconic dark green.

I love that green. It’s part of the branding on all their art supplies and I think it would be perfect for a fountain pen.

I would also love to see a deep, rich, blood red and also a sunny yellow (not orange and not green, but true yellow) that would go well with the cobalt blue they already have for the Grip.

Thanks for giving me the opportunity to suggest a new color! ^_^

  5. I like the pearl rose very much.
I would Love to see a grass green for summer and Orange red for autumn.

  6. Lilac would be nice – I know my girl would like that. Me, I’d cheerfully give that turquoise a new home!

  7. A pastel pearl lavender or soft yellow would be a lovely addition to that line. My favorite of the three new colors is the turquoise. Thanks for the giveaway!

  8. Wow, what a coincidence, I was just considering getting a FC Grip FP, I think because of something I read in this blog sometime in the past! I would really like that rose colored one but all the colors are very pretty. I have been eyeing the Lamy Safari Mango color so I’d kinda like to see that color in the Grip. Thanks for the prize opportunity! Nancy

  9. Oooh, I’d love to see it in a frosty summery yellow! And I would love to win the Pearl Rose M!

  10. There should be a lavender or some purplish hue of sorts.

I like the turquoise best. Pretty!

  11. I would like to see a pearly soft lavendar color. There’s just not enough purple in this world, if you ask me.
    🙂

Of these three, I’d go with the turquoise!

  12. I’m going with Chris here, lavender would be nice. So would a yellow.

I’m liking the green myself. Second would be the blue, followed by the pink

  13. I would like to see a toasted marshmallow colored pen. Not the “toasted until it’s a carcinogen” color but the barely toasted caramel color! That being said, I love the EF Pearl Turquoise pen if you find my response so worthy!

  14. I’ve been preaching the wonders of the F-C Grip for the last three years or so, ever since I picked my first one up on impulse at the Fountain Pen Hospital. I think it’s the best European first fountain pen.

As for a new color, since they’ve produced a spring set here, how about a fall set? Pumpkin, maple leaf, olivey green, maybe with dark brown dots?

And if other people are looking for different colors, they have sober businesslike dark blue and black (with self dots) and for a change of pace bright tropical turquoise and pink, with contrasting dots.

  15. I think a pastel purple with a broad nib would complete the set nicely.

I’m interest in the mint green one

  16. First choice EF turquoise, second choice F mint green. I think a blue or a purple would be nice. I’ve never tried this brand of FP before. Nice of you to have a give away. 🙂

  17. I think an unsaturated purple would look real pretty.

I’d love to have the turquoise with the EF nib. Love those for EDC.

  18. I would love to win the Pearl Rose one. I hope Faber-Castell makes a light purple one, my wife will love that color. I appreciate the giveaway!

  19. I would like to see them make a Pearl silver grip pen with an italic nib. They might call it pearl mint green but to me it is Celeste green and that is the color I prefer too.

  20. I love the mint green out of these three but if they did a jacaranda color I would snap it up in a heartbeat! Sorry I can’t post a link here if you don’t know what that is …

  21. I think they should make purple, there are not enough purple pens. I would like to win e turquoise EF.

  22. These pens look comfortable to hold. As for new colors, orange or copper color might be fun.
If I could choose a color, it would be the mint green!

    Thank you for the giveaway.

  23. I would love to see the grip come in a deep red along the lines of Diamine Oxblood. Maybe with some black accents. Or black with royal blue accents. Also, I’d have to say that mint grip is probably the one I want most of the 3. Tough choice though.

  24. Ooh I love the turquoise one. Other colours they should do: lavender, pastel orange, lilac, orchids… daydreams

  25. Those are gorgeous colors but I think we can all agree that a purple pen is needed!

  26. I would love to see a coral colored one! And I love the mint green pen! 🙂

  27. These are gorgeous!! I would love to win the Pearl Turquoise!

I think that a Pearl Lavender would be lovely for us ladies. But maybe they should also do a more manly color for the guys, a Pearl Silver!

Happy Memorial Day! Enjoy a beer and your backyard this weekend!

  28. These are really cute – I love your reviews!

Honestly, any of them would be cool to win. I’m leaning towards the mint green (there’s no such thing as too much mint green!) but I think the pink one would be a pen that I could give to my gf to finally turn her to the dark side of fountain pens!

They should make a nice purple one next – either a lavender or a darker purple would be really nice, I think!

  29. Definitely the next color should be…lavender? Pearl ecru? Grey? All three?

I love the pink one, but I need a fine or extra-fine nib. So…definitely the green one. Maybe. The blue is nice, too.

  30. I would like to see a dark grey/dark green combo; my favorite of the three is the turquoise. Stay safe!

  31. The next colour should absolutely be an orange if they haven’t done one yet. Summer is coming up after all.

    I’d love the pearl turquoise!

  32. I have a Faber-Castell Grip 2010 in turquoise with light green dots. I found it at Barnes and Noble last year. It came with an EF nib, which shows some line variation especially in tail letters. The nib is surprisingly nice at the price point.

I noticed someone wanted or suggested Navy which is a color they already make or is very close to it.

I’d like a cafe au lait color with brown dots.

For the giveaway, I’d like to enter for the Mint green version. Thank you for the giveaway.

  33. I would live to see a line green pen! I am pretty obsessed with turquois so that works be my choice.

  34. For the contest I love the turquoise!! For other colours I’d say a soft but vibrant orange

  35. I love the Turquoise color! If they make another, I’d love a good peachy coral color.

  36. I think a good color would have to be Cisco blue. If I was to win one and had my choice I would pick the turquoise. Can you guess what my favorite color is? Maybe something in the blue category.

  37. I would love to add a Agrippa to my pens. The mint green is my first choice. I would like to see one in brown also. Thank you.

  38. Of those three colors I like the pearl mint green the best. My first thought for another color was lavender – which others have said too – they should do it!

  39. I’d like to see them make a pearl purple.

If I win this, I would prefer the Pearl Turquoise.

  40. I’d love to see an orange creamsicle, but if I win, I suppose I’d settle for (LOL) the mint green.

  41. Thanks for the chance!

I’d design a bicolor option: a deep reddish-orange body w/pale orange (peach) dots. Or maybe deep purple (aubergine) with a light greyish lavender.

My pick would be the turquoise EF.

  42. I love the pink one and I think a pretty lemon yellow would be a nice addition to the lineup!

  43. I think a forest green would be lovely.
I’d like the Pearl Turquoise if I were to win.

  44. Pearl Lilac would be beautiful- If I were to win, turquoise would be my choice- it’s awesome! Thanks for the giveaway!

  45. I like a darker green like forest green, but I’d pick that mint green if I was the winner.

  46. I think any shade of purple would be fantastic! I prefer fine or extra fine, so I guess I’d go for the turquoise pen if I win! Thanks for the opportunity!

PS – one of my favorite pens is the Kakuno – so cute but always writes great, too!

  47. I’d love to see an orange color. It would be hard for me to pick, but I think my wife would love this and pink is her jam.

  48. I’d love that pretty Pearl Turquoise one. I think they should make a Pearl Lavender/Purple/Lilac – some light shade of purple.

  49. I love mint green as well!

It’d be nice if they could make one that matches the color of Diamine’s Amazing Amethyst.

  50. Lavender is a must! What an oversight that they didn’t already do so 😉
I like the mint green or rose. Thanks!

  51. Like it’s even a question. There should be a lavender/purple. And just why are there so few lavender and purple pens is what I want to know. Oh, and the one I want to win here is the rose, only because it has the medium nib. Hope it’s fairly juicy.

  52. I would love to see a pastel yellow or a clean eggshell white color in these pens! I would love to win the Pearl Rose Medium one! Thanks for having this giveaway

  53. I would love to see a burnt orange with lighter orange dots. As for these, I would probably take the rose just to experience that FC medium nib.

  54. I’m going to pull a Dowdy and say that I find their lack of orange disturbing.
    (also #teampastelpink)

  55. Of the three, I’d go with the Pearl Mint Green. As far as a desired color, I’m partial to blues (of the navy type) but I would like to see something similar to Lamy’s petrol on this.

  56. I would like to win the pearl turquoise one mostly for the extra fine nib. A peach color would be nice, a little more orangey than the pink one.

  57. My choice would be the EF nib without regard to color, but turquoise is nice. This pen would be great in a bright fire engine red, too.

  58. The mint green is quite nice, though a pearly gray (to match the grip) would be a very nice addition to the line up.

  59. I see I’m not the first to suggest it, but Lilac would look great in this line-up! The Mint Green is pretty dang sweet.

  60. I would love to see a lilac pearl color! I’d I win, I’d love to have the pink with the M nib 🙂

  61. I like the Pearl Rose the best. My wife own the older blue one and likes it a lot. For a new color, I think my granddaughter would like a purple one.

  62. I think periwinkle would be a great color addition. For my own choice I’m always going to go with the turquoise. That color just makes me happy but any fountain pen with an EF nib makes me happy.

  63. I think a blaze orange one would be rad, but I live both the pink and the mint green!

  64. I love all these colors – pink and green would be my first choices. I’d love to see a pen in a bright yellow, bright red, or white.

  65. I’d love to win the mint green one. It would look lovely in a vibrant coral!

  66. I think a dark blue would be nice. Of the three I’d probably pick the blue or green. Thanks for the giveaway!

  67. I love the mint green. I think they should have also offered a light lavender color, purple is always overlooked!

  68. A pearl apricot color would be delicious. My favorite out of the three pictured above is pearl turquoise.

  69. These colors look like candy! Maybe they would like to make one in a lilac color. I like the turquoise one here 🙂 Thank you for this giveaway!

  70. I think that this sheen would look great on a set of jewel toned pens. Emerald, Amethyst, and Sapphire perhaps? Maybe also a Ruby. They would be gorgeous. Not that the pastel tones are not.

  71. I know these are pastel, but they should make a bright red version of the pen. Of the three offered, I prefer the green.

  72. I love the Mint. Would love to see a dark green with a lighter yellow-green for the rubbery bits OR an orange with grey rubbery bits.

  73. I would like to win the pearl rose one, mainly because I prefer M nibs or larger. 🙂

Honestly, if I don’t win, I might just spring (haha) for one of these anyway–they’re gorgeous pens, and I’ve never tried a Faber-Castell fountain pen.

I think it would be nice to have a cheerful yellow added to this line-up.

  74. I’m in agreement with a previous poster….. Where are the jewel toned colours? Ruby red, sapphire blue, emerald green, amethyst purple and so on. Although a nice lemon yellow would make a happy colour in my pen roll. As for what I would pick? I have to say it is the pastel rose for the colour, and the turquoise for the EF nib….. All the best!

  75. I would love to see them make with a light lavender/lilac or a deep royal purple. Of the current colors, I like them all but I think I like the Turquoise just a little bit better.

  76. I’d like to win the Pearl Mint Green. The pen color I’d like to see would be Cinnamon Brown.

  77. I really like the turquoise pen. A colour that I think they should have is forest green.

  78. I love the mint green! But how do they not have a lavender? That’s what they need!

  79. I’d be happy winning any of the pens, although the turquoise is intriguing. I can’t decide whether the next color should be a deeper teal or purple, or whether something in the orange palette would be a better choice. So many colors to suggest…but it should be purple next. No, wait…

  80. I think a deep Brick Red would be a great future shade. I would love to win the Pearl Turquoise. .

  81. I would like to see a dark orange in the future.

Like to win the mint green.

  82. I recently acquired a mint Lamy so I’d have to go with the Pearl Turquoise as a favorite (because heaven forbid I have two pens of a similar color). I hesitated with picking the EF nib but I read your review and you said it wrote nicely so that would be my pick. As for future colors, how about a bight cheery yellow…makes me smile just to think about writing with a yellow pen. To keep in the “3-pen” theme maybe the next ones should be bright primaries…yellow, red and blue.

  83. They should make a rose gold one. I think the Pearl Mint Green is awesome

  84. I love turquoise blues and greens the best but what about a creamy brown one like a latte? Maybe I am missing my visits to coffee shops and have coffee on the brain but something like a latte with extra foam is the color I have in mind. Both the mint green and turquoise would make excellent companions during a visit to outdoor café for journaling time. Now I need to buy yet another notebook to go with this fantasy…#plananinterventionforcompulsivenotebookcollectors #Ifindpenandpaperoddlysoothing..#whenisstarbucksopening

  85. I’d love to win the turquoise with a Fine nib! I would suggest a nice pastel shade of yellow, for an additional color. But these are all beautiful.
    Thank you!

  86. They need to add a sweet buttery yellow to that line-up.

Would be delighted to give that turquoise blue EF a new home!

  87. Hmm- I love that F-C is adding some new Grip colors. All three are nice, but I think I’d pick the pink. As for other colors, let’s go all 70s retro and do avocado or orange!

  88. They need a bright, sunshine yellow one! From this set, the green is my favorite.

  89. I wish they made a purple one! And while my first choice is blue, I think I’d have to pick green to have some variety!

  90. I’m really conflicted as I like the turquoise and the mint green, but ultimately lean pink because of the medium nib!

  91. I think the Pearl Rose is very pretty. Another color could be iridescent pearl…like an opal.

  92. Creamsicle orange would be a fun color to have. But I love anything turquoise!

  93. I would love turquoise or mint. Well, any would be great!!! I haven’t tried a steel nibbed GvFC.

  94. I love purple so that would be my pick. As for the giveaway pens, that turquoise is beautiful!

  95. Oooh a purple version would be cool! Out of the three colors, I’d say mint green is my favorite as well.

  96. Love the Pearl Rose. Would like a pen the color of a flamingo. Orange – pink! Still on the look out for one! Does one exist out there?

  97. I hadn’t heard of these pens before, very cool- and thanks for this awesome giveaway! I think a bright green or purple would be fun, or maybe a multicolour pen, like a rainbow! I would love to win the mint green one 🙂

  98. I like the green one!
As far as other colors—I think a dark metallic brown would be lovely!

  99. I love the turquoise. I think a grey or an orange would be a great color addition.

  100. The turquoise is so pretty! I also think a sunny yellow one would really be a fun addition to my office 😛

  101. the shade of green for the Enlightened faction in Ingress would be nice. (ingress.com), or a nice bright green in general.

the mint green would be my choice of the 3, though a bit faded in comparison. 🙂

  102. I’d like to win the pearl rose one because I like the color, medium nibs are my favorite size, and Rose was my middle name (until I got married). I’d suggest they make a metallic lavendar color.

  103. These sherbet colored pens are quite pretty. Of the choices here I like the turquoise. If they were to add another pastel a coral one would be a nice addition. Personally I’d like a saturated lime green.

  104. All are very nice, but I’d most like the Rose. They should make it in a subtle slate blue-grey.

  105. I like all of them. The Rose is gorgeous though. They should make on in Matte Black. Black is so cool.

  106. Personally I enjoy a “F” tip/nib pen when writing. Among the colours available this is a close race between the turquoise and the mint green. Both are very attractive for the body of the barrel and grip of this pen. But my vote is going to have to go to the Peal Turquoise.

Though should I win the draw, I would like the Mint Green, “F” nib, please.

  107. I think either a dark dusty mauve or a yellow/orange would round out this collection nicely. All the colors are beautiful, but I think I’d like to try the fine nib.

  108. Oooooo! I’d like either a cappuccino version (variety of light browns) or a strawberry ice cream coloured version.

Out of these, it would be either turquoise or mint green.

  109. Faber should defo produce a lilac version to match the hair colour I’ve always wanted. If I could have lilac hair I would but alas not possible in my job as I don’t think I’d be taken seriously! And wouldn’t look too good in Court!!
However I would settle For the turquoise pen as my prize and this is my other favourite colour 😉

  110. A deep, dark purple would be awesome. Love the Pearl Rose, but that Mint Green is also very luscious lookin’!

  111. I love the mint green. If I was choosing a color to add, I would pick a rich burgundy red.

  112. Ooh, the Pearl Rose is lovely Only color that might be lovelier is a lavender or pale purple. And yes, I’m looking forward to sitting in the lawn chair in the backyard, drinking beer, eating burgers and dogs and watching the fireworks! You can let me know if I’ve won at mooch6155@gmail.com. Thanks!

  113. I would go with the Pearl Turquoise. I think this pen would also look good in either gold or red.

  114. Would love pearl rose. A complimentary purple would be a great addition as well.
