Giveaway: Ranga Abhimanyu Premium Ebonite (from Peyton Street Pens)

Ranga Abhimanyu Premium Ebonite Green Yellow Fountain Pen

Teri from Peyton Street Pens was sweet enough to send us two pens this year for review and giveaway. The first was the Miwok 2 pen that we reviewed and gave away in early June. And today we’re able to host a giveaway for the Ranga Abhimanyu Premium Ebonite pen that Ana reviewed later in June. Check out her review for more information, but the basic deets are below. Good luck and may the odds be in your favor!

  1. If it’s a wet nib, I’d put in Edelstein Adventurine. Otherwise, it would be Montblanc Irish Green.

  2. For this Ranga pen I would use Noodlers Green Marine or Private Reserve Ebony Blue.

  3. This is a gorgeous pen! My first thought was to use one of my many blue inks, but I think I’d actually use my Noodler’s Lexington Gray so that I can sketch with it and use it more often!

  4. I have some crazy Diamines from Christmas somewhere in the Green range, then a funky monkey off blue might have potential. I am also looking at mixing some Noodlers Eel to a bit of Eire to see if it is combustible.

  5. I would use the DeAtramentis Document Black Red ink from Germany. Because of the mix of colors, it appears a bit like rusted iron gall ink which I like when journaling. A bit nostalgic.

    1. Oooooooo La LA! What a fun pen! I would go with Monteverde Napa Burgundy and address all of my Christmas cards with it!!

  6. Wow that’s stunning! I don’t actually have any, but I think LAMY Mango would make a fun combination with this pen.

  7. This would be a nice addition to my fledgling collection. Don’t have many, so it’s imperative that I win this pen. My other pens have banded together and said that if I don’t, they will all jump off my desk and commit pen-icide, because life just wouldn’t be worth penning if they have to go on without The Ebonite.

  8. Well, I’m torn about inks. Something green. Maybe Montblanc Irish Green. But then again, maybe a lighter shade of green. Decisions, decisions. If I win, I will let everyone know what my Hamlet-like deliberations have resulted in.

  9. I’m not much for matching ink to pen…

I think my first ink would be the Forest Park Green from the StL 2021 PenShow.

  10. I have a sample of Robert Oster Chartreuse I’ve been dying to try – I feel like it’d find a good home in the Ranga!

  11. Frankly, I’d probably use Monteverde Black Ash, since I like that, but a nice pale teal might bring out that subtle teal in the pen body.

  12. I’d probably use some purple ink. I’m not at all matchy matchy for pen and inks!

  13. Monteverde Chariote – have a full bottle I’ve been meaning to put in something soon

  14. I would use grad von faber castell viper green except on my contrary days, when I’d use colorverse red shift, just to be onery. It’s a beautiful pen. Thanks for letting me imagine owning it and I king it up.

  15. I would load it with TWSBI Prairie Green, it looks like the green the pen body. Broad nibs are my preferred nib.

  16. I’M a lime green fan myself, but I have yet to find the perfect green although RO fizzy lime is at the top of my list. I’m just thinking that a yellow gold with go better. I’be been exploring Robert Oster inks lately. So I’d go with some RO antique gold in that one

  17. For the ebullient hues of Ranga’s stock
Only the very best of ink suffices,
A dither of royalty, a smatter of shock,
    Waterman’s tender purple entices.

  18. I would to use Noodler’s Hunter Green ink that I got by mistake in a box of Noodler’s Luxury blue.

  19. Birmingham Pen Company’s Kentucky Bluegrass! Definitely!

(OK, maybe their Pitted Nickel ink from time to time…)

  20. What color? Oh, geez. Well, I’m not a matchy-matchy kind of person. I think I would start with Private Reserve Orange Crush. Or maybe Monteverde Rose Noir. Something that shades a lot.

  21. Something has to tame that wild green and yeller beast that was BORN TO BE WILD!!!!
Pilot Iroshizuku’s Ina-ho is up to the task. Ina-Ho’s warm yellow-gold tones are perfect for expressing beautiful streams of writing sheen consciousness. That ink and THAT PEN are perfect together and will be inseparable if I’m deemed the winner.

  22. Oh, I would absolutely put Horseradish Mustard in by Birmingham Pen Company, It would be a beautiful green/yellow saturated writing dream.

  23. Ordinarily, I like to play matchy-matchy with my pen & ink combinations. But for some reason, to my eye, this pen is just begging to be filled with a bright blue ink. I have a bottle of Ultramarine from Birmingham Pen Company that would be just perfect. And oh, the sheen that broad cursive italic nib would give!

  24. I’d need to find the perfect blue to match that blue in the pen. Maybe Petrol Blue.

  25. I think I would use Diamine California Teal. Although it says teal, it’s more of a nice green.

  26. The green and gold colors are so beautiful. They just shout “I am an awesome pen!”

  27. Ink choice for this pen is tricky! It’s so hard to find a legible yellow, without being orange. That said, I’d probably try to match the subtle blue in the ebonite… maybe Lamy petrol? Thanks for another great giveaway!

  28. Monteverde Horizon Blue, I think, would be perfect. Lovely pen! It would be going to a good home if I were lucky enough to win it. Thanks for the chance!

  29. Lamy Mango to play with, but it isn’t easily readable so for journaling Graf von Faber-Castell Olivine.

  30. I think Rohrer & Klingner Alt-Goldgrün would be perfect for this green yellow beauty

  31. I have a bottle of De Atramentis Heliogen Green-Cooper just waiting for this beautiful pen.

  32. For some reason the body makes me think of fruit, like something sweet and juicy… Monteverde Mango Mousse

  33. I have been curious about cursive italic nibs for quite a while, so winning this pen and putting Diamine Green Black in it would be such a great thing to happen!

  34. This would make a great addition to my tiny collection (I don’t have any pens like this … color or material). I just got a bottle of the Yoseka custom green ink that I would fill with!

  35. I think I’d go with a green I mixed up myself. It has yellow highlights I just love.

  36. I’m in a Christmas kind of mood, so with a green pen, maybe Aurora Red (one of my new favorites).

  37. I would use either Diamine Apple Glory for a bright green or go for a wild contrast with wild strawberry.

  38. I’m not going to try to match pen and ink on this one. I would go with my “go to” ink, Pilot Blue Black.

  39. I have a bottle of Montblanc “Golden Yellow” ink I have been saving for a special occasion. The color combination of this pen and ink would be such an occasion! Fingers crossed for a colortastic pairing!

  40. Firstly, what an absolutely gorgeous pen and I am only now learning about master pen and ink makers from India. So I think I would pair it with the lovely super rich green Thulasi ink from Krishna.

  41. SO many great inks for this – maybe Diamine Ancient Copper as a counterpoint or Robert Oster’s Sublime?

  42. I would second the Rohrer & Klingner Alt-Goldgrun suggestion. Colors seem close enough to go for a matching vibe. An alternative would be to go for a complementary color such as the ever great Pilot Iroshizuku Yama-budo.

  43. Soooo many possibilities! My daughters helped pick an ink and we came up with Krishna Pooram.

  44. I’m going to fill this with the exclusive Lemur Lime ink from Blackstone! As soon as that runs out, it will be Gold Antigua from Bob Toaster, and the third fill will be Avocado (also from Bob Toaster).

…From there on after I’ll need to buy more samples to try out in this beautiful new pen!

  45. Herbin Violette Pensee, as it’s closest to the classic color of Napoleon’s Methyl Violet. The color takes me back to (memories of) our teacher’s handouts in elementary school. Mimeograph rules!

  46. If I wanted to pick up on the colours of the pen, I would fill it with Van Dieman’s Eucalyptus Regnans. But it reminds me of ocean currents, so I might start it with one of the Van Dieman’s Underwater inks or, perhaps, an earthy tone of a seashore — maybe Diaimine’s Golden Sands.

  47. I would put Noodlers Heart of Darkness in to start. I have recently decided its my go-to ink for new pens.

  48. Such a fun green on this pen! I’d have to fill it with my favorite green – Diamine Sherwood Forest.

  49. For a nice psychedelic groove, I think Mont Blanc The Beatles Psychedelic Purple would be in order 🙂

  50. Lately I’ve been playing with grey inks. So I would probably choose Lamy Agate 🙂

  51. I think I would ink it with Lemur Lime ink from Lemur inks. I think it would be a great match!

  52. Ooooh,
I just saw a video of a guy who bought a bottle of Cuttlefish ink and did some watercolour outline drawings with it, and I so want to try that. Now, maybe this could be the pen to try that with…
    Haha, just kidding.

  53. To me, this one seems like it’s just begging to be inked up with some Sailor Ink Studios #273.

  54. Alt GoldGrun.
Always wanted a nice ebonite pen and this one is amazing. plus the nib is nothing I’ve ever used before

  55. Gorgeous pen and I would have to fill it with either Robert Oster Fire&Ice or L’Artisan Pastellier Callifolio Olivastre.

  56. Interesting unusual colors! I think either Pelikan Olivine or this Monteverde Yosemite Green I got a random sample of. The idea of the nib really appeals to me.

  57. this pen needs a lively green, blue, or yellow ink. diamine eau de nil would be just right!

  58. I think I’d go with a nice bright red like Diamine Poppy for a pan-African vibe.

  59. Oh, Pilot Iroshizuku Momiji for a lovely contrast with the pen. Thanks for the chance!

  60. I’d want to fill this pen with a nice green ink. I’m not the most colorful person, so my green would be along the lines of Noodler’s “Luck of the Draw” or Diamine “Dark Forest.”

  61. Ooooh,
I just watched a guy use Cuttlefish Ink to do the outlining in his watercolour painting, now I just got to try this. And I think this will be the perfect pen for that.

    haha, just kidding.
