12 Days of Inkmas: Giveaway!

12 Days of Inkmas

It’s the middle of Inkmas mania and I think this calls for a giveaway. Maybe two?

Prize #1: I have 12 awesome inks samples– many of the colors featured in the first annual 12 Days of Inkmas plus a few other surprise colors. And I mean decently full sample vials!

Prize #2:  I have a $25 gift certificate from the fine folks at Jet Pens. Buy a new fountain pen, some paper or even some inks. Cross a few items off that epic wishlist. Your choice.

I’ll draw two names for this giveaway (one will win the ink samples and one will win the gift certificate) so that there will be even more holiday cheer. In the spirit of the holidays, the giveaway is open to anyone on planet earth (interstellar shipping is extra). To enter, leave a comment and tell me your current favorite ink color or the first ink you would buy if you don’t presently own any inks.

Happy Holidays!

FINE PRINT: All entries must be submitted by 10pm CST on Saturday, December 21, 2013. All entries must be submitted at wellappointeddesk.com, not Twitter, Tumblr or Facebook, okay? Winner will be announced on Sunday. Winner will be selected by random number generator from entries that played by the rules (see above). Please include your email address in the comment form so that I can contact you if you win. I will not save email addresses or sell them to anyone — pinky swear. If winner does not respond within 30 days, I will draw a new giveaway winner. Shipping via USPS first class is covered for anywhere in the world. Additional shipping options or insurance (or customs fees) will have to be paid by the winner. We are generous but we’re not made of money.

  1. I don’t have an extensive collection of inks, but I do enjoy using Diamine Meadow. Like you, I have a bit of a thing for greens.

  2. I’m currently heavy on Diamine in a variety of colors. I lean a little more to the Blacks, Blue-Black and Purple. I need to branch out more in the browns, oranges and maybe some pinks and reds!

  3. Favorite ink?! That’s like picking your favorite child! My current favorite, I guess, would be Diamine oxblood, since I’ve been signing Christmas cards with it, but I refuse to be beholden to one color!

  4. It’s the dullest thing in the world, but I think my favorite ink right now is regular, stodgy ol’ Pilot Blue-Black. It’s been well-behaved in every pen and cartridge I’ve dumped it into, it came in a giant bottle for like ten bucks, it dries quickly and works well both on nice Rhodia paper and on the cheap litter we have at work, and it even looks nice when I lay it on with a broad or flexible nib.

  5. Wow! That’s generous.
My favourite ink colours (can’t narrow it down to one!) are all Noodler’s inks: Navajo turquoise, Apache sunset, red rattler, eel gruene cactus, and eel blue. Love brightly-coloured inks!

  6. I have a few pens inked up right now. My favourites are Iroshizuku Tsuki-yo (that I use for everyday writing), R&K Alt-Goldgrün, Montblanc Dandy Turquoise and Red Chalk.

  7. It’s difficult to choose my favorite, I’ve been testing out a few different inks. I love the color of Black Swan in Australian Roses, but it’s a bit too quick to dry off the nib for me. I’ve had my eye on Diamine Eclipse for a while!

  8. My favorite is Noodler’s Black. Works on cheap paper, professional color, waterproof, flows well…just a bit of nib creep prevents it from getting more than 4.5/5 😛

  9. My two favorite inks at the moment are Iroshizuku Kiri-same (a warm gray) and J. Herbin Cacao du Brésil (a grayish brown), they seem ideal for winter. Thanks for the great giveaway and Happy Inkmas!

  10. I am new to the fountain pen world, and own two pens and one ink. It’s blue. I would love a sample pack so I know which inks I should buy next! Or the gift certificate, since I think black would be a sensible second ink color. Although, I would love brown…

  11. I’m loving your Inkmas reviews… thank you for all your hard work.

Maybe it’s because I’m in the midst of trying to get my holiday cards out, but I’d have to go for J. Herbin Lierre Sauvage. Such a lovely green.

    Happy holidays!

  12. I just started getting into inks and I don’t currently own any, but Diamine Meadow would be the first I would buy. I love it’s color.

  13. I am new to the ink obsession – I have just joined the Ink Drop Goulet mailing list to try out some new inks, and I really want to try some Noodlers as well.

  14. I don’t have any bottles of ink yet, just cartridges, but I just bought some converters. Would love some samples, The black cherry is heavenly. PS I love your blog and have been reading it forever.

  15. My current favorites are Diamine Chocolate Brown for sketching and Iroshizuku Momiji for writing. Thanks for the opportunity to win!

  16. My favourite at the moment is Diamine Oxblood. Its making studying for my last 2 finals before Christmas bearable! Such a nice color and not too overpowering reading a page of notes written in it.

  17. I’m recently new to the world of fountain pens and ink so I’m loving your 12 Days of Ink reviews. Private Reserve is a brand I haven’t yet tried but after reading your reviews that will need to change. I love the look of their Spearmint colour most of all.

  18. Still kind of new to this but love the fp and paper community. So far I like Diamine Macasser but want Noodlers Antietam. Sorry, probably misspelled both. I also want to try Bay State Blue. I love the discussions on that one. Merry Christmas & Happy New Year everyone. Sandy

  19. I like both new ink colors and buying things at JetPens! In fact, I would probably just wind up buying ink with a JP gift card…

  20. I don’t have any inks now, but I think that I would start with a good blue-black. I have one in my non-fountain (sorry) everyday go to pens and it is a good mix between boring black and a overbearing blue.

  21. Diamine Evergreen Green. I only have cartridges but want to upgrade or refill a cartridge until I can get a nicer pen with a converter. I have blue, black, and blue-black. I want to also try the turquoise and an orange.
    Thanks

  22. After way overanalyzing and over researching what ink I should buy to use with my first fountain pen, a pilot metropolitan, I final settled on Pilot Iroshizuku Shi-Kai and it turned out to be the perfect not-black dark blue ink I was looking for. I would love to try some different colors but I’m not sure what color to start exploring next. 🙂

  23. It’s very difficult to pick just one color. I have Levenger Raven black in my Parker 75 all the time. It’s not a particularly exciting color, just a nice deep dark black. I also have Iroshizuku Momiji loaded into at least one pen at all times. I always keep a green and purple available, but there are so many wonderful colors, it’s like choosing one’s favorite child! I fell in love with the PR Ebony Blue in this month’s Inkdrop and that will be the next one I buy. I already have about forty bottles of ink, and the day’s favorite depends on my mood. Ink is a fun relatively inexpensive way to express oneself, don’t you think?

  24. For years I used only Waterman Violette — a deep, satisfying purple with good flow in most of my F-nib pens — and still do. But I’ve recently added J. Herbin’s Gris Nuage and Liere Sauvage to my repertoire, as well as Noodler’s Black for more solemn moments. And a nice brown pen that arrived recently all the way from India was given Sheaffer Brown to drink from a long-forgotten but still half-full bottle. And this is only the beginning.

  25. Thank you for the opportunity! My curretn favorite is Diamine Macassar–which I am testing in my search for my favorite brown. Diamine Chocolate Brown is pretty hard to beat.

  26. I love blue-black inks (I have no idea why), and also some green shades like emerald green or forest greens. I’m new to using inks, though, and love trying different colors 😀

  27. I’m bored with black and blue Quink by Parker and would love to switch to something vivid and crazy from Iroshizuku or Noodlers palette.

  28. I’m normaly not a fan of blue inks, but damn Private Reserve makes some fine colours. I’m totally in love with Ebony Blue and DC Supershow Blue is great as well. The dark red that comes to the surface, when Ebony Blue is really saturated, it’s gorgeous. Both from the current Goulet Ink Drop.

  29. I’ve recently got myself into fountain pens, purchased an ink converter for my Lamy and i’m going to buy allllll the different red inks I can get my hands on. Help me!

  30. I’m loving the Pilot Iroshizuku Ink in Ku-jaku Peacock. That color is just so bright and amazing. Thanks for the very nice giveaway!

  31. My favorite ink color is PR Avacado, which was part of the Inkmas swatching. I love unusual colors and that is different enough without being hot pink or orange.

  32. I currently have a bottle of the Kon-Peki but looking to try out a more greenish-blue color. Sort of like a sea green color.

  33. My current favorite and the sample is running low is Stipula Musk Green. But I desperately want to try Diamine Salamander. Something about browny-greeny inks!
