Giveaway: Shibui 9-Vial & A6 Cases

Shibui 9-Vial Case

Today we’ve got the second giveaway from Ana’s review of the Leather Stationary Cases from Shibui.

We have one of each of the following, and each will go to one lucky winner:

9-Vial Case (₱2,125, approx. $44USD)

The case features stitched leather straps that have been designed to perfectly hold 5ml sample vials. While you may not be taking ink samples with you everywhere, those empty vials can also hold extra nibs while not in use, so you could use it for that! As with the others, this is a case with clean lines and a sturdy zip.

A6 Hobo/Notebook Journal Cover (₱3,450, approx. $72USD)

The A6 Hobo/Notebook Journal Cover is another unique case. It features a carrying handle along the spine which makes the case a good option for toting your Hobonichi around the office (or home office).  It’s got a pen loop, sturdy zip, and some slots for cards (but they’re not quite credit card sized!)

  1. Good thing I already have something else to hold my vast collection of library cards. I actually can’t decide which I want more. They are both useful to some extent. I’ll take either of them off your hands!

  2. A6 Hobo/Notebook Journal Cover it’d be my choice.
The A6 format is my favorite as an EDC. I use dotted or blank notebooks and I am always looking for nice, resistant, and effective covers.
In my bundle, I would have 1 or 2 blocks (1 blank / 1 dotted), 1 fountain pen, 1 pencil on a regular basis. Then I would add some business cards, a foldable planner for the current week, 2 A6 300g/sqm sheets if I want to draw, a 15 cm metal ruler, a plastic Fresnel lens (credit card sized), a white balance card for my camera.

  3. I would probably give the A6 Hobo/Notebook Journal Cover to my wife, I think it would be the perfect size for her as she starts to enter the journaling scene. If not, I think I would find a good place for it in my rotation.

  4. I’d love to win the A6 Hobo/Notebook Journal Cover. I think it would be great to use when travelling (when that’s possible again).

  5. So far, it looks like I’m odd-woman out because I would go for the 9 vial case. I have vials rolling all around my house & need to contain some of them, LOL!

  6. The A6 Hobo please. I would put my Faber Castell e motion fountain pen and off course field notes. Will the 50th anniversary edition be out by the time you pick a winner? Good luck to all.

  7. I would love a 9 vial case to put my ever growing ink sample collection into as well as my dip pen calligraphy nibs.

  8. The A6 case would be my first choice, but I could use either. I would probably use the A6 for notes generated while reading books. Right now they are just in random places. The vials I would use for inks, vitamin supplements or bits and bobs. Thanks for doing a giveaway.

  9. I think the 9-vial case would be a really fun addition to my EDC, especially considering that we’re starting to talk about going back into the office one or two days a week. I’ve got a ton of sample vials that I’d like to start rotating through again (and when I’ve gone through a bunch it means I can order more!)

  10. Morning Ana, I think i would prefer the sampler case as I have never see one and I certainly don’t have one. That way I could carry several ink samples an still not know what to put in my pen!

  11. Cool gifts! I’m most interested in the Hobo/notebook journal cover. I’m not likely to carry around vials of ink. (I just carry so many inked pens that I’ll always have enough!) Hey, thanks for this giveaway. So cool.

  12. I would go for the A6 case as I am trying my hand at making my own notebooks which happen to be about an A6 size 🙂

  13. That A6 case is beautiful! That would definitely become my EDC notebook tote, with fountain pens, markers, and pencils stuffed inside, too!

  14. My preference is the A6 Hobo/Notebook Journal Cover. It would be great for a Clairefontaine leather softcover notebook with a Pilot G-02 pen for all my on the go journaling needs.

  15. The A6 Hobo/Notebook Journal Cover is my choice. I can put my Hobonichi Avec and Plain Notebook in it with my TWSBI Lilac for lists and other writings.

  16. Definitely the A6 Hobo/Notebook cover. I’d put my Hobonichi planner in there. Right now, it lives on my desk, and mostly so do I. As I start to go back out and do more things, it would be good to bring it along for journals and notes in a way that I haven’t. I’d like to be able to use it as a more common place to capture stuff and a cover like this would be the perfect aid in that.

  17. Hobo Case for me and I would put in my A6 Hobonichi (and whatever pen I am loving at the moment) super intrigued by these leather pen loops with the pull tab.

  18. the a6 hobo/journal notebook cover would hold all the thing i need! a pen and notebook. what else is there?

  19. I’d love to have a 9-Vial Ink Case like that. I seem to have an ever growing collection of off-black, blue and gray inks that don’t travel with me on extended trips because they’re sitting loose on a shelf. The olive drab color of that case even matches the drab and somewhat utilitarian nature of my taste in inks!

  20. Either, really, but especially the notebook case. I have a watercolor sketchbook or two that would fit in there perfectly.

  21. I’d like to win the A6 Hobo/Notebook Journal Cover. I could take my notebook and Karas Kustoms Decrograph Pen with me on my outings and record my thoughts and observations. Maybe tirn them into an essay or short story.

  22. I will love the A6 hobo notebook. I will use it as my man purse for my ID cards, earphones , keys etc.

  23. Hey! I need the A6 notebook case to separate me from all the other struggling sketchers who walk around looking really dumb by flaunting their funky ink and paint smeared notebook. I can’t stand to be even considered in the same category as those attention seeking small town art creators! Can’t you get the picture? I want to say, “It’s ME!”

  24. Making a good first impression is important, and pulling out impressive tools for notetaking is a good way to do it. I would love the A6 Hobo/Notebook Journal Cover and already anticipate the questions asking, “Where did you get that?”

  25. The notebook cover would be so well used to house my notebooks and pens so needed for jotting down all my medical appointments.

  26. Looks like the A6 cover is very popular. I’d be happy with either. I’d put my cute A6 Midori in the case. Or use the vial case to store my shimmer ink experiments (made with Pearl. Ex)

  27. I just ordered a new midori calendar the A6 Hobonichi notebook cover would be great together

  28. I would love to win the hobo/notebook journal cover. I seem to collect A6 notebooks but have yet to follow through with getting a cover for one of them.

  29. I’d definitely choose the A6 cover for my hobonichi, this is such a beautiful colour that would really lift my mood in this grey winter . Reminds me of a nice cup of golden milk

  30. I would be interested in the A6 Hobo/Notebook Journal cover. I’ve never owned an A6 notebook, so maybe this would be my impetus to actually buy one.

I discovered this site while writing up a report for a client in the office supply business, and now I’m hooked!

  31. The vial carrying case would be great. I dream of a time when I will feel safe going out and meeting up with pen people again and that case would be such a classy way to take along inks to share. The case has a mad scientist vibe that I like. I’d try to get some kind of syringe to fit in there as well, just to finish off the mad science impression.

  32. Would love the case for carrying extra vials of ink around. What a great idea! It’s always a bummer to run out of ink when away from home, so having backup would be awesome!!!

  33. Thanks for the giveaway, and for the review in a previous post; it’s very informative!

I’ll go for the 9-vial case. It would be a nice way to carry extra nibs for my fountain pens, as well as spare nibs for my reMarkable EMR marker.

Another possible use, could be to carry some consumables for managing diabetes, such as test strips and small needles. Of course, only if a glucometer can fit inside.

  34. I would love to be considered for the notebook cover. I have started using a planner, full disclosure, actually I have had a planner for the last several years. This is the first time I have entered things on a regular basis. One of the only good things that came from this pandemic is that by having to transition my Nursing classes from in person to online is that I had to become better organized! This would definitely help as we start integrating our students back to campus! Thank you, have a great weekend!

  35. Definitely the A6 journal cover for me. I definitely dont have enough inks for the vial case…..yet

  36. I would love the A6 hobo notebook/journal cover! I would use it to carry the pens I use for grading papers at school and a small notebook for to do lists.

  37. The A6 Hobo/Notebook Journal Cover would be my choice. Why? I have couple of older Hobonichi Notebooks that I never got the hang of using on a daily basis. I would love to have a case to carry them in and finally use them as a journal!

  38. oh gosh I heard about these on inky rocks youtube channel and they look so neat. The hobo cover would be most useful for me as it’s my main type of planner, but that ink vial case would be great for travelling as other things could be packed along with the vials. would love to have either tho

  39. I would get more use out of the vial case, because I don’t have A6 notebooks… I have to travel a bit over the next six months so I’d haul extra ink with me to avoid running out!

  40. The notebook cover is nice and clean. I journal a lot more than I experiment with new inks. This would be my dedicated long-form journal, since I like to have smaller notebooks for quick notes.

  41. I would like the journal cover. I just recently started journaling as a way to meditate and focus on myself in a stressful time and it has been helping a lot!

  42. I’d love the sample vial holder. I subscribe to inkjournal’s ink flight and get seven lovely colors each month. I believe soon that I will again be able to sit in a coffee shop and write letters and journal – or at least at an outside table to do so. I’m ready to go for it.

  43. Those look like soft leather folders, could be a dream, a reminder of traditional scriveners’ accoutrements.

  44. Today I get to announce the winners of the Shibui 9-Vial and A6 cases, generously sent to us by Shibui for review and giveaway. We are designed as a perfect organizer for the freelancer, or journaling enthusiast. Fits your A5-sized journal or your iPad mini.
