The L.E.A.D. 2.5 Word Processor
Found on one of my many adventures thrifting/antiquing in Kansas City, this is the L.E.A.D.* 2.5 Word Processor plaque featuring the ever handy pencil. Under the current circumstances, sans power in many places in the KC area, they may be on to something.

Blizzard of Oz, phase two.
The American Midwest clearly annoyed the weather gods this year. After a blistering hot summer with no rain at all we are now being inflicted with two gigantic snowstorms back-to-back. The snow has started accumulating on the power lines and power outages are happening all around us. So… I wanted to get a post up this morning letting everyone know that I may or may not have more posts later today — power-permitting.

Bottlecap pencil sharpener
Turn any plastic bottle into a pencil shavings catcher. This would be a perfect office solution. Take that empty Mr. Pibb bottle from this morning and use it to catch about a year’s worth of pencil shavings. The price is a bit steep at $20 for one but its such a clever solution. It looks like the blade removes with a screwdriver so you may be able to replace or upgrade the blade.

DIY: Personalized Coffee Mug Revisited
I posted recently about the DIY custom coffee mug from A Beautiful Mess and I got a lot of feedback from readers that using a Sharpie on a mug would not work well. So I went on a hunt for a better solution to customizing your coffee mug. I knew there had to be another option and there is: its the Pebeo Porcelaine 150 pen.
The pen is available in nine different colors and in either a broad or fine tip for about $5 per pen. Draw on your mug and then let the ink dry. Then pop the item in a 300℉ oven for 30 minutes and voila! The artwork or writing is now permanent and dishwasher safe though they recommend keeping the artwork to the outside of your mug and not where your food or mouth might come into contact with it.
